New Escalators Installed at “Hamid Alimjan” Station in Tashkent Metro
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The new escalators at the “Hamid Alimjan” station of the Tashkent Metro will begin serving passengers on 19 January, following the completion of all technical inspections and regulatory procedures, the Tashkent Metro State Unitary Enterprise (GUP) reported.
The installation and calibration of the equipment have been fully completed. Currently, the escalators are undergoing laboratory technical tests conducted by the contractor, Technopark LLC.
Following these tests, the escalators will operate in a trial mode without passengers for a period of 48 hours.
Once the testing is successfully completed, the Metro plans to obtain certification from the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
After official approval, the equipment will be cleared for passenger use, and the station vestibule will open for unrestricted access.
The escalator passage at the station had been temporarily closed for the replacement of the old equipment. The newly installed escalators feature modern technology and energy-saving functions: motion sensors automatically activate movement when passengers approach, while the devices operate in an energy-efficient mode at other times.
This infrastructure upgrade is part of the phased modernization of the Tashkent Metro, aimed at enhancing safety, comfort, and energy efficiency in passenger transportation.
