New electricity meters are more accurate than previous ones

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In recent days, there have been objections in social networks that massively installed new meters are overstating.

Specialists of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and related departments responded to consumer complaints, explaining the situation with the "writting" of extra kWh with modern electric energy meters.

Over the past 25 years, in July, the maximum period for maintaining hot weather was observed. As a result, if in July 2018 in Tashkent the electricity consumption made up 584.6 million kWh, then in July 2019 - 647.9 million kW hours, which is, 63.3 million kW hours more.

The installed new meters have an accuracy level much higher than previous induction meters or some first-generation electronic meters. For example, if the induction meters have an accuracy level of ± 2.5%, new ones ± 1.0%.

In addition, in induction meters after every 5 years of use, the accuracy class is reduced by ± 5%. It follows that for some induction meters, the accuracy level exceeds ± 10%, so we still used the old meters.

As you know, some unscrupulous consumers connect the "zero" wire to the heating system, and illegally consume electricity. This leads to damage to the power system, wear of heating pipes, in some cases, the death of citizens as a result of electric shock. In such cases, current meters calculate not only the energy passing through the meter, but also the illegally used electricity.
