Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Saydullo Tukhtasinov, who also holds the position of director of the Andijan international airport, has been appointed director of the Samarkand international airport instead of the dismissed Murodjon Jamalov, Gazeta.uz reports citing the press service of Uzbekistan Airports.

The corresponding decision was made on 6 July at an offsite meeting of the Uzbekistan Airports board under the leadership of Chairman Rano Djuraeva. The meeting also discussed the preparation of Samarkand Airport for servicing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in May 2022.

“Today we have appointed a new director, and we will further strengthen the team with foreign specialists with experience in airport servicing of large summits,” said Rano Djuraeva.

The completion of construction work and commissioning is scheduled for 1 September 2021.
