New Car Sales in Uzbekistan Rise by 7.2% in January 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center for Economic Research and Reforms has released an updated analysis of Uzbekistan’s primary automotive market for January 2026, covering sales dynamics by region and segment, including the electric vehicle market.

According to the report, sales of new passenger cars, both domestically produced and imported, increased by 7.2% year on year in January, reaching 28.6 thousand units.

The highest sales activity was recorded in the Bukhara Region, Kashkadarya Region, Ferghana Region and Surkhandarya Region. At the same time, sales of new vehicles declined in the Samarkand Region, Khorezm Region, as well as in the city of Tashkent.

Particular growth was observed in the segment of domestically manufactured vehicles. Sales of new Uzbek-produced passenger cars exceeded 24 thousand units, representing an increase of more than 11% compared to January last year. In contrast, sales of imported vehicles amounted to around 4.4 thousand units, down 10% year on year.

Electric vehicles emerged as the key driver of market growth. In January, EV sales rose by 9%, reaching 6.1 thousand units.

The bulk of electric vehicle sales was concentrated in Tashkent, where 3.7 thousand units were sold, accounting for more than 62% of the total. Strong growth was also recorded in the Samarkand Region, where sales increased 3.5 times, the Namangan Region with a 2.4-fold increase, the Surkhandarya Region with a fivefold rise, and the Khorezm Region with a threefold increase.

Overall, the primary electric vehicle market expanded by a record 45.3%, reaching 4.7 thousand units, reflecting the rapidly growing interest in environmentally friendly transport in Uzbekistan.
