New Alternative China–Europe Transport Corridor Launched via Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uztemiryulcontainer JSC is actively implementing a range of initiatives to develop container transportation in Uzbekistan, aimed at diversifying transport routes and increasing the volume of transit cargo traffic.
In May of this year, a six-party meeting was held in Tehran with the participation of representatives from the railway authorities of China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkey. At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the organization of new container routes from China to Europe along the corridors: “China – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Turkey” and “China – Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Turkey.”
As part of the implementation of this agreement, another six-party meeting was held on 22–23 July in Beijing, at the invitation of CRCT. The meeting brought together sectoral experts to assess the effectiveness of the new routes, launch a pilot container train, and discuss tariff preferences.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed on joint measures to introduce competitive tariffs, increase cargo volumes, develop multimodal transport systems, and further expand cooperation.
