Nearly 150,000 Uzbeks Voluntarily Blocked Themselves from Receiving Loans
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 October, 149,465 citizens of Uzbekistan had used the self-restriction service to block the issuance of loans to themselves, according to the Credit Bureau “Credit-Information Analytical Center” (CIAC).
This free option allows individuals to limit the possibility of obtaining loans without their participation or knowledge.
Statistics reveal a clear gender disparity: men account for more than 101.4 thousand users, while women make up 47.9 thousand. The service is most actively used by citizens aged 26–35 (about one-third of all participants), followed by the 36–45 age group (25.6%) and those under 26 (19.2%).
Since the service launched in June 2025, the number of users has grown significantly. In the first month, 33.1 thousand people registered, followed by monthly increases: July — 37.6 thousand, August — 37.8 thousand, September — 40.8 thousand. Data for October have not yet been published.
The self-restriction can be enabled or lifted through the credit bureau, public service centers, or the EPIGU portal, including its mobile application. Under the law signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 4 March 2025, credit institutions are required to check the self-restriction registry before issuing loans and bear responsibility for any violations.
CIAC emphasizes that access to the registry information is free of charge, and the service is aimed at protecting citizens from unauthorized loan issuance.
