The consortium of Turkish Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret AS and Spanish Initec completed construction of the first combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 450 megawatt at the Navoi thermal power station in October 2012. The project cost was US$530 million.
Japan’s Mitsubishi supplied combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 478 megawatt to Navoi thermal power station. The project will allow to produce 2.8 billion KWH of electricity a year and cut consumption of fuel by 1.8 times. It will save 400 million tonnes of gas or over US$110 million.
Total capacities of the Navoi thermal power station with new combined-cycle plant reached 1,546 megawatt, which allows to produce 7.9 billion KWH electricity a year.
The station is also implemented a project on construction of liquefied gas compression station with two facilities for secondary processing of used fuel materials with the cost of US$28 million. The power station also implements other projects on modernization of its capacities and objects.
The most important of them is construction of the second combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 450 megawatt in 2015-2017. The project will be financed due to loan of JICA and own funds of Uzbekenergo. The project will fully satisfy demand of population and enterprises for electricity in Navoi.
