Navoi Airport to Gain Autonomy and Plans to Increase Flights 2.3-Fold by 2030
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On Measures to Improve the Efficiency of Navoi International Airport.”
The document envisions the introduction of project management principles at the airport to significantly expand its operational activities.
According to the decree, by 2030 the number of flights is planned to increase 2.3 times — up to 7,000 per year — while passenger traffic is expected to reach 150,000 and cargo transportation to 45,000 tons annually.
Under the reforms, Navoi International Airport LLC will be removed from the centralized management system of Uzbekistan Airports and will gain the right to independently develop additional services aimed at increasing aviation exports through its own revenue.
The airport will also be authorized to set tariffs for aviation fuel and its storage for foreign carriers, taking into account global market conditions.
The implementation of the decree is expected to ensure more efficient airport management and strengthen its role as a key transportation hub in the region.
