Nationwide charity khashar to take place in Uzbekistan on 22–23 August

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22–23 August, Uzbekistan will hold a nationwide charity khashar under the motto “A well-maintained and prosperous mahalla is the adornment of the country,” according to a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

As part of the campaign, cleanup, improvement, and landscaping efforts will be organized in neighborhoods and public spaces across all districts of the country. Special attention will be given to the beautification of mahallas, residential areas, apartment buildings, parks, guzars, pilgrimage sites, cemeteries, children’s playgrounds, streets, and alleys. The plan also includes whitewashing and pruning of trees.

In addition, the khashar aims to provide support to socially vulnerable groups, including low-income families, elderly people living alone, and persons with disabilities who lack care. Particular focus will be placed on improving their living conditions.

The removal of waste generated during the improvement works will be carried out by local executive authorities and other responsible organizations, transporting it to specially designated sites.

At the same time, the resolution prohibits the holding of khashars or other activities in places that pose risks to life and health. These include highways, streets with heavy traffic, bodies of water and coastal areas, construction sites, rooftops of buildings and structures, hazardous industrial facilities, and other potentially dangerous areas.
