Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Social Protection Agency has completed the first phase of one-time financial aid payments, covering more than 616,000 families across the country. The total amount disbursed reached 422.4 billion soums.
The support was provided on a differentiated basis. The most vulnerable groups received 1 million soums each, while low-income families listed in the so-called “Mahalla Seven” received 500,000 soums each.
The majority of the 1 million soum payments went to families under state support, as well as households with orphans or children left without parental care. This category also included elderly individuals living alone and people with disabilities requiring constant assistance. In total, 225,541 families received aid under this category.
At the same time, financial support of 500,000 soums was provided to 387,764 low-income families, offering significant assistance ahead of the holy month.
The agency is now moving on to the second phase of the program, which will cover families added to supplementary lists following a detailed assessment of their socio-economic conditions.
