National NGOs Forum takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A republican stage of National Forum of NGOs of Uzbekistan was held at the Youth Create Palace in Tashkent on 20-22 November 2013.

The forum was initiated by National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, Public fund on supporting of NGOs and other civil society institutes, local bodies, Women’s Committee, etc.

Senators, MPs, representatives of ministries and departments, experts, NGOs and others participated at the event. Overall 300 people attended the event.

The forum was aimed at assessing formation and development of the civil society, role and importance of NGOs in implementation of the state programme, operation of NGOs in reforming healthcare, education, social protection of population, environment, etc.

The republican stage of the forum concluded a series of events, which were held in regions of Uzbekistan from 5 to 18 November 2013.

The forum participants discussed interaction of the state bodies and public organizations in implementation of social-economic development programmes in the region. It was noted that the forum will help analyze the results of 2013 and determine directions of cooperation for next several years.

Within the republican stage, several roundtables on legal bases of NGOs’ operation, role of NGOs in development of women entrepreneurship, as well as master classes were held.

At the same time, the four groups developed proposals on the project “Programme of additional measures on improving information-organization activities of NGOs, increasing efficiency of their participation in social-economic development of the country”, mechanism on their participation in developing social partnership and public control.

The forum contributed to consolidation of efforts of NGOs, directed at strengthening social partnership with the state bodies and administration, implementation of the state programmes, especially in those areas, where the government needs support.

At the end of the forum, the memorandums and agreements between NGOs and the state structures were signed. The proposals on improving several draft laws were also submitted.
