National Chamber and UN Offices build partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Rovshan Izamov, Chairman of the National Chamber of Innovative Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held talks with representatives of UNICEF and UNFPA offices in the country on 3 March 2020.

As the head of the child’s health and well-being section of the UNICEF Representative Office (UN Children’s Fund) in Uzbekistan Sufan Guo and UNFPA Deputy Representative in the country (UN Population Fund) Kamolkhon Inomkhojayev noted at the beginning of the meeting, the National Chamber showed as a competent partner in reforming the healthcare system of Uzbekistan.

In this regard, the parties discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation. In particular, Sufan Guo noted the importance of implementing a vaccination project in Uzbekistan, within the framework of which the construction of special cold stores designed to store vaccines is being completed in the country with the assistance of UNICEF.

A major role in the successful implementation of this project is played by the qualifications and responsibilities of staff, as well as monitoring the status of warehouses. This is due to the special characteristics of the temperature and storage conditions for vaccines, which must be strictly observed for the effectiveness of these drugs. This is especially important given the fact that children are vaccinated.

Rovshan Izamov emphasized that the National Chamber is ready to assist UNICEF in the implementation of this project with the involvement of 14 of its territorial divisions.

According to Kamolkhon Inomkhodjaev, UNFPA and the National Chamber could fruitfully cooperate in the development of modern teaching aids and clinical guidelines according to international standards.

The parties also discussed a number of projects being implemented by UN agencies, including screening aimed at early diagnosis of cervical cancer, which is important for the health of thousands of women. The National Chamber expressed its readiness to assist in the implementation of these projects, the purpose of which is to make the population of Uzbekistan more healthy and, therefore, prosperous.

An agreement was reached to continue cooperation, including taking into account the potential of creating joint working groups with the involvement of international experts, developing strategies and concrete steps to implement projects that will be selected for joint implementation.
