National Chamber and Center for Pediatrics develop protocol on rare childhood illness

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Uzbekistan has developed a National Clinical Protocol (NCP) for one of such rare childhood diseases as cystic fibrosis. This will help accurate diagnosis and treatment of children using the most modern methods and drugs. This was reported by the press service of the National Chamber of Innovative Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The NCP for the management of children with cystic fibrosis was developed by the National Chamber of Innovative Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with specialists from the RSNPMC Pediatrics. Cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis) is a hereditary disease.

Rare (orphan) childhood diseases are currently given special attention in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan. In this regard, on 7 September 2019, Presidential resolution No. PP-4440 was adopted, which approved a program of measures to organize the provision of medical and social assistance to children with rare (orphanic) and other genetic diseases for 2019–2024. And the painstaking work on the development of clinical protocols is especially important here because the recommended diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with this pathology are based on the evidence base of the most modern world scientific data.

This will give small patients a chance at the earliest possible and correct diagnosis, which always increases the chances of the patient, and the highest quality treatment to date.

The introduction of the NKP provisions into the practice of public health allows us to provide high-quality diagnostics and programmatic use of new drugs in the treatment of orphan diseases. In this case, a phased expansion of the treatment program with new drugs and treatment regimens for cystic fibrosis is provided.

Presidential resolution No.PP-4440 also provides for the establishment of the National Register of Patients with Cystic Fibrosis, on the basis of which, in particular, they will be provided with free medicines.

The organization of the development of clinical protocols based on the principles of evidence-based medicine and harmonized with international standards is one of the tasks set by the country's leadership to the National Chamber of Innovative Health.

Cooperation between the National Chamber of Innovative Health and the Ministry of Health in the development of National Clinical Protocols is carried out in all areas of medicine in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to introduce an innovative model of healthcare management in the Republic of Uzbekistan” (No. PP-3894 dated 2.08.2018) by the decree of the head of state “On comprehensive measures to radically improve the healthcare system of the Republic of Uzbekistan” (No. UP-5590 of 12/07/2018).
