Narbayeva Meets with Parliamentarians and UN Representatives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries continues in Tashkent, during which Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, held a series of meetings with representatives of international organizations and parliaments of neighboring countries.
The discussions focused on enhancing the role and activity of women in the socio-political life of the region, as well as expanding cooperation with the UN and other international bodies.
During a meeting with Gwi Yeop Son, Regional Director of the UN Coordination Office for Europe and Central Asia, the parties exchanged views on Uzbekistan’s prospects for cooperation with UN system organizations, the implementation of projects under the Sustainable Development Goals, and their contribution to the country’s socio-economic reforms. Gwi Yeop Son noted that hosting the 43rd UNESCO session in Samarkand reflects the high level of trust the international community places in the large-scale transformations underway in the New Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Senate Chairwoman held talks with Zhyldyz Sadyrbayeva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan; Mavsumah Muinzoda, Deputy Chairwoman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan; Daniya Espaeva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan; and Bayramgozel Muradova, Chairwoman of the Turkmen Mejlis Committee on Science, Education, Culture, and Youth Policy.
During the meetings, the parties emphasized that interstate relations in the region are consistently developing on the principles of good-neighborliness, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation, with the active participation of women leaders playing a key role. Special attention was paid to reforms aimed at protecting women’s rights, strengthening their socio-political status, and expanding opportunities for participation in public life.
The discussions also covered further activation of trade and economic ties between the regions, as well as the implementation of joint projects in industry, energy, manufacturing, and social and humanitarian sectors.
Participants stressed that the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries serves as an important platform for deepening regional cooperation, increasing women’s engagement, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
