This was stated in a letter from 19 June 2020 addressed to the director of the NCHR, Professor Akmal Saidov, from the director of the Asian Legal Exchange Center (CALE) of Nagoya University, Professor Akira Fujimoto.

In his message, Professor A. Fujimoto noted the great effectiveness of the International Parliamentary Forum held on 10 June 2020 in the format of an online conference by the Uzbek side in conjunction with the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The forum, with the participation of experts from many countries, examined the role of parliaments in implementing the recommendations of the UN bodies - on the example of the UN Human Rights Council and the Human Rights Committee.

“Based on the comments of international scholars and practitioners who spoke at the forum, I was convinced that Uzbekistan has made significant progress in the field of human rights,” the head of CALE said.

He noted that CALE specializes in legal development and analysis of the state of this issue in Asian countries with economies in transition, among which Uzbekistan, with its modern development of law and legal practice, is of significant interest.

“Therefore, I look forward to our cooperation, especially in the field of academic research, which is currently receiving significant attention in Uzbekistan,” the Japanese professor said at the conclusion of the appeal.

Given the significant international authority of Japan's legal theory and practice, the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan begins preparing draft proposals with the aim of discussing them with the Asian Legal Exchange Center (CALE) of Nagoya University.
