Yandex Uzbekistan Launches First AI Specialist Training School in the Country

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Applications are now open for Yandex ML School, the first specialized training center in Uzbekistan dedicated to preparing highly qualified professionals in artificial intelligence, including machine learning, mathematical modeling, and data analysis.

To participate, candidates must pass an entrance test. Those who succeed will be invited to an in-person interview in Tashkent in the second half of September. The program begins in October and is entirely free of charge.

The training lasts two semesters and will be conducted offline in Tashkent. The curriculum, developed by experts from Yandex’s School of Data Analysis (SDA), focuses on in-depth study of theoretical foundations and their practical application. The teaching staff includes Yandex specialists, professors from leading Uzbek universities, and industry experts with hands-on experience in real-world projects.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, emphasized that developing human capital is a priority of state policy:

"Quality education requires significant investment, which is why private initiatives in this field are particularly valuable for the country’s sustainable development. Free educational centers like Yandex ML School Uzbekistan expand access to modern knowledge, help unlock the potential of talented youth, and contribute to building a competitive economy of the future. We encourage other companies to actively invest in enhancing the skills of our young people."

The Yandex ML School curriculum covers core disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, algorithms, and machine learning. The program is structured around solving real industry challenges, completing practical projects, receiving regular feedback from instructors, and participating in workshops and industry weekends. Classes are conducted in English, giving students access to international professional materials and boosting their competitiveness in the global job market. The workload amounts to 20–30 hours per week, including evening lectures and self-study.

Yandex ML School aims to graduate senior-level specialists each year, fostering a professional community capable of creating world-class technological products and implementing cutting-edge solutions in the national economy.

The school’s launch continues Yandex’s broader strategy for developing technological education in Uzbekistan — from programs for school students and courses for computer science teachers to intensive training for working professionals.

Applications are open until 10 September.
