Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Protection of doctors plays an important role in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Chamber of Innovative Health of Uzbekistan also contributed to this noble cause, transferring in all regions of the country the most necessary for the individual protection of medical staff. This was reported by the press service of the National Chamber of Innovative Health.
Such humanitarian actions were carried out by the territorial divisions of the National Chamber of Innovative Health in Tashkent, Ferghana, Syrdarya, Navoi, Namangan, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Kashkadarya regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Tashkent.
They transferred to the regional centers of state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance and other medical institutions, including the Perinatal Center and the Infectious Diseases Hospital of the capital region, a total of more than 10 thousand 600 medical masks, 1 thousand 300 disposable gloves, 300 disposable protective overalls, more than 500 units of antiseptic agents. Also, the branches of the National Chamber, on the initiative of their employees, gradually transfer a 1-day salary to the Mehr Shavkat мa Salomatlik Foundation. And such regional initiatives are ongoing.
Today, on 11 April, also in Tashkent, the leadership of the National Chamber transferred 150 sets for the individual protection of medical staff.
100 sets, consisting of protective overalls, masks and shoe covers, are intended for doctors of the clinic of the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (NIIEMIZ) and 50 for specialists of the State Inspection of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control.
According to the data on the morning of 11 April, 108 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus infection are being treated at the NIIEMIZ clinic. According to the director of NIIEMIZ, Doctor of Medical Sciences Botir Mirhashimovich Tajiev, just the other day, the first survivors are expected to be discharged, for which all candidates will be tested and, after 24 hours, another one. Those whose tests turn out to be negative will be discharged to the quarantine zone for rehabilitation and restoration - to the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Therapy and Medical Rehabilitation (former Semashko Research Institute for Nuclear Physics and Physics).
The entire staff of NIIEMIZ from director to caretaker, and this is 196 people, is working today on the main goal - to cure patients with COVID-19 here, B.Tadjiev noted.
“We are provided with 99.9% of medicines and medical equipment, as well as personal protective equipment and hygiene products. For patients, meals are fully organized at the expense of the state, clinical laboratories are fully operational, provided with all the necessary supplies,” says the director of NIIEMIZ. In addition, doctors conduct video consultations with the participation of leading specialists of the Republican specialized medical centers of Uzbekistan, as well as a number of leading healthcare institutions in Russia and China.
It is the interaction, partnership of various structures that is the key to success in this difficult time. And assistance from the National Chamber is one of the elements of such interaction.
“We work closely with the National Chamber of Innovative Health in various areas. And in this difficult time, we express our gratitude to the National Chamber for the initiative to support us. Together, we decided that these should be personal protective equipment for medical workers,” says Botir Tajiev.
We add that in Tashkent, the treatment of the majority of patients with COVID-19 is carried out by specialists from the clinics of two leading medical institutions - the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and the Research Institute of Virology. And, of course, a significant supply of personal protective equipment is one of the greatest necessities for those who work directly with patients.
To date, more than 70 thousand tests for coronavirus have been performed in the country. And the more thoroughly this work is done, the more sick people will be detected, which is very important for their speedy cure and reduction of the further number of infected people. So, the more carefully we need to protect those for whom all the hope these days - doctors.
