Museum exposition opened in Mirzo-Ulugbek branch of Uzpromstroybank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 October, an opening ceremony of the museum exposition was held in the former building of the Tashkent branch of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, built in 1895. Currently, the Mirzo Ulugbek branch of Uzpromstroybank is using the building.
The opening ceremony of the exposition was held with the participation of senior management and partners of Uzpromstroybank, representatives of the media and bloggers. The guests of the event, accompanied by historian and local historian Boris Golender, familiarized themselves with the unique architecture and interior of the building.
“The history of the building - this striking example of Russian architecture - is inextricably linked with the history of banking. For 123 years, it was here that financial and banking institutions were located: first the regional branch of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, and since 1922 the Central Asian office of the Prombank, which later became the Uzpromstroybank. All these years, each generation of bank employees tried to keep the original interior and exterior details. Today it is a fully functioning branch, whose doors are open not only for customers, but also for lovers of history and architecture. For Uzpromstroybank, it is important not only to preserve the historical appearance of the capital, but also to provide those who wish with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with its architectural heritage,” said Otabek Abdurahimov, head of the strategy and marketing department of Uzpromstroybank.
The two-storey building, built at the end of the 19th century by the project of architect V.Geinzelman, is part of the ensemble of Amir Temur Square. Experts note that the building has reached our days practically in the form in which it was built. The exterior design of the bank is designed in the neoclassical style typical of buildings of that period. The interior is a collection of parts preserved from the times of the State Bank of the Russian Empire and recreated in our time.
Renovations underwent a tiled pattern that replicates a preserved section of the floor, and part of a gypsum ceiling plinth. During a visit to Uzpromstroybank, visitors will be able to appreciate the original architectural elements of the 19th century: furnace doors on the walls, the massive door of the iron and mechanical factory of Franz San Galli, a lifting mechanism for money and other goods.
In the operating room, visitors are invited to familiarize themselves with black-and-white photographs of Uzbekistan in the era of the Russian Empire: the building of the State Bank in Tashkent, the Moscow Chamber of Accounts in Kokand, the treasury in Samarkand, Nikolaevskaya Street, Romanovsky Street, Kaufman Avenue, etc. The mini-exposition of the museum includes a number of historical exhibits: telephone, typewriters, government credit cards.
