Mukhiddin Madaminov Wins Gold in Junior Rapid at World Chess Championship
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek chess players claimed three medals at the World Junior Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, the press service of the national Chess Federation said.
The tournament took place in Peru, featuring 89 young athletes from 19 countries. In the Open rapid category, Muhammadzohid Suyarov won the gold medal, while Mukhiddin Madaminov took silver. In the blitz competition of the same category, Mukhiddin Madaminov secured first place, Muhammadzohid Suyarov earned bronze, and Khumoyun Bekmurodov finished fourth.
In the women’s events, Afruza Khamdamova claimed silver in rapid, and Umida Omonova took silver in blitz.
By the end of the championship, the Uzbek team had won three medals and two honorary placements: Mukhiddin Madaminov scored 12 points to become the gold medalist, Muhammadzohid Suyarov earned 10 points and bronze, and Umida Omonova achieved 9.5 points for silver. Khumoyun Bekmurodov placed fourth with 9 points, and Madinabonu Khalilova finished sixth with 8 points.
