Muhammad Mudassir Tipu to Succeed Ahmed Farooq as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Pakistan has appointed a new ambassador to Uzbekistan, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on his X account.
Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, who previously served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran since October 2023, will assume the post. From 2019 to 2023, he held positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan as Additional Secretary, Director General for the Americas, and Director General for China.
Tipu has also held several overseas postings, including Consul General in Chengdu, China; Political Advisor and First Secretary at Pakistan’s embassies in Washington, D.C., and Beijing; and Third Secretary at the embassy in Tokyo. Additionally, he served as Director General of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade.
A graduate of the University of Oxford, Tipu has edited multiple journals and participated in the World Economic Forum in Geneva. He will replace Ahmed Farooq, who has served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan since March 2023.
