MPs Support Measures to Improve Control over the Export of Precious Metals and Stones
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, deputies considered at first reading a draft law aimed at improving the procedure for exporting semi-finished jewelry products beyond the country’s customs territory.
The draft law was developed as part of a comprehensive state policy to support the development of the jewelry industry, enhance the competitiveness of domestically produced items in both domestic and foreign markets, and increase export volumes.
During the discussion, deputies emphasized the need to strengthen support measures for exporters and to further refine procedures related to jewelry semi-finished products.
The draft law предусматривает mandatory obtaining of an opinion from the State Assay Supervision Inspectorate under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan when exporting semi-finished products made of precious metals outside the customs territory.
This measure is expected to reduce the illegal circulation of precious metals, stones, and related products, while ensuring transparency and legality in foreign economic operations.
As deputies noted, the adoption of the draft law will represent an important step toward improving state policy in the circulation of precious metals and stones, as well as supporting domestic manufacturers and local entrepreneurs engaged in lawful activities. The draft law was approved at first reading.
