MPs control: reports of deputy governor considered
UzLiDeP underlined that recently the law on introduction of changes and amendments to some articles of the Constitution of Uzbekistan was adopted and it gave strong impulse for development of democracy, raising role and importance of representative bodies in life of the society, forming single system of parliamentary and public control over activities of the executive power. One of important forms of MPs control is hearing reports of the executive powers and governance in places at the Councils of People’s Deputies.
UzLiDeP MPs are adopting measures on effective use of controlling authorities of the representative power in places to implement programme tasks of the party and protect interests of the voters. In 2013, the party conducted 131 control-analytical activities on studying issues of production and processing food products, forming diversified farms, etc. The party initiated 96 hearings of the executive powers in places and over 20 issues were included to the agenda of the sessions of the Councils of People’s Deputies and corresponding resolutions were adopted in 2013.
The main topics of the studies are improving production and processing of food products and providing food products to population on affordable prices, increasing of export potential of the industry, etc.
Pulatkhon Yuldasheva, head of multiple-discipline farm and activist of UzLiDeP, said that Uzbekistan was able to keep stable and affordable prices for food products despite global financial-economic crisis and growth of prices for food in the world.
Policy directed at supporting farmers and stimulating production of agriculture products, introducing new technologies and other measures helped to increase production of fruits, vegetables and grapes. According to experts, in last ten years the production of vegetables per capita rose 2.2 times, which is the highest figure in the CIS states. Currently, the prices for food products are almost the same in autumn-winter period.
MPs of UzLiDeP underlined that the systematic works on increasing production of food products should be continued and expand exports as fruits and vegetables of fruits and vegetables are better than compared to products of other countries. Another actual issue is to develop and strengthen material and technical base of farms, promote cooperation among farmers.
Nurali Ganiev, MP from UzLiDeP in Council of People’s Deputies in Ferghana region, said that consideration of the regional programme on food production is important in order to ensure saturation of internal market and ensure food independence of Uzbekistan. He said that the programme envisages implementation of 156 projects, including 17 in Furkat district. The projects are directed at developing farming, cattle-breeding, poultry, fishing and bee-keeping, etc. He said the projects will allow to increase production of meat and milk products by 1.5 times and create over 1,300 new jobs and increase number of cattle and poultry in the region.
It was noted that organization of such hearings will improve food independence of Uzbekistan and help to saturate markets with food products. UzLiDeP is planning to hold similar events in other regions as well.
