Mother who threw child into bear enclosure in 2022 kills her daughter
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A tragedy occurred in the Sergeli district of Tashkent: a mother who three years ago attempted to take her daughter’s life by throwing her into a bear enclosure has now fatally stabbed the child. The details of the case were revealed in the TV program Millar.
According to available information, the 34-year-old woman, in an unstable condition, inflicted multiple stab wounds on her seven-year-old daughter. The girl, who had just started first grade a week earlier, died at the scene from her injuries.
It was established that since 2022 the woman had been under observation at a neuropsychiatric clinic, where she had been receiving treatment. On 2 August 2025, she was discharged with a recommendation for outpatient monitoring. She also has a son.
Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, reported that a criminal case has been opened under Article 97 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code (“Premeditated Murder”). The suspect has been detained, and an investigation is underway.
It should be recalled that in January 2022 the same case already sparked wide public outcry when the woman threw her three-year-old daughter into a bear enclosure at Tashkent Zoo.
The child sustained injuries from the fall. In April of that year, the mother was found guilty of attempted murder under aggravating circumstances and was committed to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric clinic.
