Moscow Strengthens Cooperation with Russian-Language Media in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A briefing on “Cooperation of Russian-Language Media Abroad” was held at the Sputnik Uzbekistan Multimedia Press Center, attended by representatives of Russian media and public organizations.

Participants included Anna Kolesnikova, First Deputy Director of the State Autonomous Institution “Moscow House of Compatriots”; TV presenter and President of ANO “ArtMediaEducation” Arina Sharapova; and Galina Sapozhnikova, Honored Journalist of Russia and recipient of the “Golden Pen of Russia” award.

High Engagement of Uzbek Participants

Anna Kolesnikova noted that Uzbekistan demonstrates stable and strong involvement in projects aimed at supporting Russian-speaking communities abroad. According to her:

Media professionals, Russian language teachers, and youth actively participate in initiatives;

Uzbek participants successfully pass competitive selections annually and show significant interest in educational and creative programs;

Graduates of the media school for young journalists have already integrated into the professional media community.

Warm Historical Ties and New Cultural Projects

Arina Sharapova emphasized the special relationship of the Uzbek people with Russia, recalling events from the Great Patriotic War, when Uzbekistan took in thousands of evacuees, providing them care and support.

She noted that many families remained in the country even after the war ended.

Sharapova also mentioned potential plans to create a documentary series about the “cities of labor glory” in Uzbekistan, stating that such projects help preserve historical memory and respect for people’s achievements.

The screening of the film “Cultural Code. Russia 3.0. Path of Victory” at the media conference in Tashkent confirmed that an honest look at the past remains important and emotionally significant for audiences.

“We saw footage that evoked strong emotions — people in the audience cried, recalling the past. Strength lies in the facts, strength lies in the truth,” she emphasized.

Conference of Media of Russian Compatriots

From December 4 to 8, the Conference of Russian-Language Media of Compatriots was held in Tashkent, attended by over 60 representatives of Russian-language media and compatriot organizations.

The event was organized by the State Agency for Compatriots Affairs (DVMS) and the Moscow House of Compatriots (MDS), with the support of the Russian Embassy in Uzbekistan and the Russian House in Tashkent.
