Reconstruction work began on the square in front of the Istiqlol Palace. The monument, symbolizing the friendship of different nations, will return here on the eve of the Day of Memory and Honor – 9 May.

The monument, which is named as the Monument of Friendship, was installed in Tashkent in 1982. In 2008, it was relocated to one of district of Tashkent city. The monument to the family of Shaahmed Shamahmudov was relocated from Tashkent suburbs to Friendship Park (former Babur Park) in May 2017.
