Modern Inspection and Screening Complex Launched at “Syrdarya” Customs Post

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A state-of-the-art inspection and screening complex has been put into operation at the “Syrdarya” customs post, marking an important step toward increasing customs efficiency and reducing cargo clearance times.

The new equipment is installed at one of the country’s busiest checkpoints, handling the largest flow of international road transport. Over the first eight months of this year, around 84,000 trucks passed through the post, averaging 350–400 vehicles per day.

The inspection system, Z-Portal, produced by the U.S. company Rapiscan, was installed with the assistance of the manufacturer’s specialists. The system uses low-dose X-ray reverse-scatter technology, ensuring radiation safety for drivers and passengers.

The complex provides detailed imaging of vehicles and their contents even through steel layers up to five millimeters thick, enabling the detection of hidden contraband, including narcotics, weapons, ammunition, and other prohibited goods.

With a throughput of 200–220 vehicles per hour, the new system significantly accelerates customs procedures while improving the quality of inspections. Its installation reflects the ongoing modernization efforts of Uzbekistan’s customs service, a key priority for national leadership.
