Mitsubishi to build plant on ammonia and carbamide production in Navoi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Navoiazot joint stock company signed a contract with the Japanese companies Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Corporation for construction of the plant for production of ammonia and carbamide on turn-key basis, Uzkimyosanoat press service said.

The company said that Navoiazot and consortium of the Japanese companies Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Corporation signed the contract for construction of the complex on production of ammonia and carbamide on EPCC (design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the plant) conditions.

According to the contract, the complex will produce 660,000 tonnes of ammonia and 577,500 tonnes of carbamide a year with introduction of technologies of leading vendors. Denmark’s Haldor Topsøe will supply equipment for ammonia production, Italy’s Saipem and Netherlands’ Uhde Fertilizer Technology will delivere equipment for synthesis and granulation of carbamide respectively.

The project will be financed due to loan of the Fund for Reonstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and own resources of Navoiazot. The work is underway to attract loan of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on realization of investment project “Construction of production capacity of ammonia and carbamide at Navoiazot” on 21 July 2015 and provided preferences to the project.

The project realization will ensure stable supply of ammonia for production of mineral fertilizers at Navoiazot and remove old capacities on ammonia production, decrease energy consumption and allow to export products for US$100 million.
