Mirziyoyev Tours Completed Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the completed Imam Bukhari Complex, reviewing the infrastructure designed for pilgrims and tourists.

Rebuilt under the president’s initiative, the complex honors the spiritual authority and scholarly legacy of the renowned hadith collector, recognized in the Islamic world as the “Sultan of Muhaddiths.”

Spread over 45 hectares, the complex offers modern facilities for visitors. It includes one four-star hotel, two three-star hotels, and 22 family guesthouses with 176 beds. Parking has been organized for vehicles, and all infrastructure is fully equipped with utilities. The mosque can accommodate 10,000 worshippers, and a grand iwan with 154 columns reflects traditional national architectural style.

A tourist center and a unique nine-pavilion museum have been established for pilgrims. Exhibits cover Imam Bukhari’s life and scholarly contributions, the history of 25 prophets mentioned in the Quran, the genealogy of Prophet Muhammad, his life in Mecca and Medina, and the process of collecting and organizing hadiths.

The complex features 14 blue domes and four 75-meter minarets, giving it an imposing presence. Its capacity allows up to 65,000 pilgrims daily, five times higher than before.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that the complex should serve not only as a pilgrimage center but also as a space for knowledge, education, and spiritual guidance. Programs for religious and educational work, as well as training for imams and local community activists, will be prioritized.

The president noted that visiting the sacred site and absorbing the spiritual atmosphere will help young people better understand the essence of Islam and follow a righteous path in life.

Tomorrow, the special Ramadan Hayit prayer is scheduled to take place in the new mosque of the complex, marking a significant event for the country’s Muslim community.

The visit to the Imam Bukhari complex concluded the president’s working trip to Samarkand Region.
