Mirziyoyev Signs Law on Employment and Wages Reforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts in the country.

The law is aimed at clarifying the powers of the Migration Agency, expanding the rights and responsibilities of private employment agencies, and improving the system for overtime pay.

Under the new legislation, private employment agencies are authorized to organize professional training courses and foreign language classes for job seekers, as well as involve foreign employers in the training process.

Additionally, these agencies will have the right to independently manage interest income earned from placing reserved funds in deposits with commercial banks.

The Labor Code has been amended to remove the previous restriction limiting overtime work to 120 hours per year.

At the same time, new payment standards have been established: the first two hours of daily overtime are to be paid at no less than 1.5 times the regular rate, while any overtime beyond two hours must be compensated at no less than double the regular rate.
