Mirziyoyev Reviews “Sharq Bahori” Residential Complex in New Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction site of the “Sharq Bahori” residential complex in New Tashkent to review the progress of one of the largest housing development projects in the region.
In his Address to the Oliy Majlis and the nation, the head of state noted that in 2025 Uzbekistan built and commissioned 8.1 million square metres of multi-apartment housing, while the total volume of residential and non-residential construction over the past nine years reached 210 million square metres.
Designed for a population of 2 million, New Tashkent is envisioned as a large-scale megacity with modern residential districts and full infrastructure. At the first stage, housing will be provided for approximately 600,000 residents. The “Sharq Bahori” complex covers an area of 95 hectares and includes nearly 15,000 apartments.
To date, more than 1.8 million square metres of construction work has been completed using A+ class energy-efficient materials. The project provides for the creation of a green zone with over 15,000 trees and shrubs, autonomous heating and cooling systems, and solar panels installed on building rooftops.
For residents’ convenience, underground parking facilities are being constructed beneath the buildings. A park, metro station, administrative buildings and public institutions are planned in close proximity to the complex.
After inspecting one of the completed apartments, the President emphasized that New Tashkent must become a benchmark for comfortable and modern housing construction nationwide, while the “Sharq Bahori” complex should serve as an example of an integrated approach to housing infrastructure and urban development.
