Mirziyoyev Reviews Plans to Increase Coal Production in Uzbekistan to 10 Million Tons for 2025–2026 Season
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation summarizing the performance of the coal industry and plans for the upcoming period.
The discussion highlighted that new projects are being implemented in the coal sector, production capacities are expanding, and output volumes are increasing, ensuring uninterrupted energy supply to the population, social institutions, and key economic sectors during the heating season.
In the autumn-winter period of 2024–2025, coal enterprises extracted and supplied nearly 8.7 million tons of coal to thermal power plants, budgetary organizations, and the population. For the 2025–2026 season, production is planned to increase to 10 million tons. To achieve this, the material and technical base of enterprises under JSC “Uzbekcoal” has been strengthened, and conditions have been created for the operation of additional producers in the sector.
The President issued instructions to ensure reliable coal supply to the population throughout the season. Special attention was given to modernizing enterprises, commissioning new production capacities, and reducing production costs through the implementation of market principles and competition.
Additionally, the presentation addressed accelerating new investment projects in the uranium sector, expanding exploration activities, and introducing modern technologies.
