Mirziyoyev Reviews Measures to Stabilize Gas Production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with a report on ongoing efforts in the oil and gas sector aimed at stabilizing natural gas production volumes and developing new reserves.
The report provided details on the current dynamics of gas production within Uzbekneftegaz, as well as the factors contributing to its decline and the measures being taken to offset them. It was noted that in the first quarter of this year, additional volumes were secured through the commissioning of new wells, the repair of existing ones, and the implementation of technological measures. This work is expected to be expanded over the course of the year.
Particular attention was given to the introduction of modern technologies aimed at improving the efficiency of well operations. Promising areas are currently being identified for 2D and 3D seismic surveys. To strengthen control over drilling and field operations, plans include the introduction of a supervision system, the use of geological and hydrodynamic modeling, and more thorough development of production programs in line with international standards.
Measures to increase gas recovery rates at fields, develop hard-to-recover reserves, and assess the economic efficiency of programs planned for 2026–2027 were also reviewed. In this area, cooperation with international companies is ongoing.
The head of state emphasized the need to ensure stable operation of the sector, the efficient use of existing capacities, a systematic approach to geological exploration and drilling, as well as the expansion of practice-oriented cooperation with foreign partners.
Following the meeting, responsible officials were instructed to ensure strict control over the implementation of the planned measures and to achieve concrete results in each of the designated areas.
