Mirziyoyev Presents Comprehensive Initiative Package to Strengthen Cooperation Between Central Asia and Russia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the second “Central Asia – Russia” summit, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev unveiled a comprehensive set of initiatives aimed at deepening strategic partnership, enhancing economic cooperation, and ensuring regional stability.
The President proposed the establishment of a Coordination Council at the level of deputy prime ministers to accelerate the implementation of joint decisions and projects. He also initiated the “Central Asia – Russia Agroexpress” project to boost mutual trade and facilitate agricultural exports to partner markets. Another proposal focused on developing a unified Transport and Logistics Framework to integrate national programs in road, rail, and air connectivity.
Mirziyoyev suggested creating a “Central Asia – Russia” Industrial Engineering Hub in Bukhara — a technological platform for developing and implementing engineering solutions — and called for granting the “Innoprom. Central Asia” exhibition-forum the status of a key industrial and innovation platform for the region. He also proposed establishing a Regional Competence Center for Nuclear Energy in Uzbekistan and launching a specialized personnel training program based on the MEPhI branch in Tashkent.
Among the President’s other initiatives were the development of an “Energy Partnership Program of Central Asia and Russia”, expanding cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration and processing, energy efficiency, and the adoption of green technologies. He further proposed creating a Regional Expert Council on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies and opening branches of the Skolkovo Innovation Center across Central Asian countries.
Mirziyoyev supported the establishment of the “Engineers of the Future” Consortium to unite the potential of leading universities and research institutions in Central Asia and Russia, along with a special grant program for young scientists and researchers. He also advocated organizing an annual Ethno-Cultural Forum — the Festival of Culture and Creativity of the Peoples of Central Asia and Russia.
In addition, the President stressed the need for joint measures to combat terrorism, extremism, cyber threats, and human trafficking, and proposed holding high-level consultations on Afghanistan.
