Mirziyoyev Outlines Uzbekistan’s Priorities in Cooperation with the EAEU

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Saint Petersburg in the status of an observer state. In his speech, the head of state detailed the strategic priorities for expanding Uzbekistan’s engagement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the hospitality and the organization of the meeting, and also noted the productive chairmanship of the Belarusian side under Alexander Lukashenko.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that deepening pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation with EAEU member states has acquired fundamental importance against the backdrop of global market fragmentation and increasingly complex logistics chains.

According to Mirziyoyev, over the past four years, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with EAEU countries has nearly doubled. Within the structure of economic relations, the share of high value-added products is growing, while the expansion of cooperative projects demonstrates a steady dynamic, reflecting partners’ interest in strengthening production chains.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted Uzbekistan’s active participation in key Eurasian initiatives, including the implementation of the three-year plan with the Eurasian Economic Commission, which encompasses around 40 measures in trade, industry, finance, agriculture, and transport. Work continues within the joint working group, the fifth meeting of which is scheduled to take place next year in Tashkent.

Mirziyoyev welcomed the start of negotiations on an agreement for the exchange of information regarding goods and vehicles crossing the customs borders of Uzbekistan and the EAEU. He stressed that cross-border data exchange will enhance the efficiency of customs control, reduce delays, and integrate transport systems into Eurasian corridors.

The President paid particular attention to the priorities for further engagement.

First, the phased elimination of trade barriers, intensification of coordination between CIS and EAEU institutions, the development of a roadmap for harmonizing requirements, and the establishment of a “Uzbekistan–EAEU” Coordination Group to address issues of technical regulation, certification, and customs administration.

Second, the development of industrial cooperation: jointly forming a list of projects in mechanical engineering, energy, agriculture, the chemical industry, and other sectors; creating a roadmap with the Eurasian Development Bank for infrastructure and “green” projects; and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

Third, strengthening cooperation in digital technologies: preparing a roadmap for the integration of digital platforms, including e-commerce and digital labeling; digitalizing customs administration; and transitioning to a “seamless” model of cargo transportation.

Fourth, joining EAEU technological platforms in biomedicine, new materials, agrotechnologies, energy, and robotics.

Fifth, creating an integrated information resource in the field of tourism to ensure the interoperability of the Union’s tourism products.

President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to further expanding practical cooperation with the EAEU and extended his best wishes to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the occasion of Kazakhstan assuming the chairmanship of the Union. In conclusion, he congratulated all participants on the upcoming New Year, wishing them peace, well-being, and prosperity.
