Mirziyoyev Meets with Members of the U.S. Congress in Washington

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 November, as part of his visit to Washington, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received members of the U.S. House of Representatives — Bill Huizenga, Carol Miller, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove — at his residence.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as to expand practical cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of interparliamentary contacts and the active work of the U.S. Congressional Uzbekistan Caucus. It was emphasized that the annual celebration of Uzbekistan Days in the House of Representatives helps strengthen Uzbek-American relations and deepen mutual understanding.

Special attention was given to the role of the U.S. Congress in supporting the practical implementation of high-level agreements, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, innovation, and humanitarian exchange.

The parties also discussed expanding interregional cooperation, including establishing partnerships and developing practical ties with the states of West Virginia, Michigan, and California — represented by the meeting participants.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to organize a visit by a U.S. congressional delegation to Uzbekistan, as well as to facilitate mutual business missions involving regional leaders from both countries.
