Mirziyoyev Meets GM Leadership to Discuss Expansion of Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his working visit to Washington, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Shilpan Amin, Global Executive Director of General Motors International.

During the talks, both sides discussed further expansion of strategic and long-term cooperation with one of the world’s leading automotive corporations. It was emphasized that General Motors International plays a key role in the development and diversification of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry.

Over the past five years, 1.6 million vehicles have been produced in Uzbekistan, making the country GM’s second-largest Chevrolet market after the United States and the leading market in Central Asia and the CIS in terms of sales volume.

Special attention was given to deepening production cooperation, expanding the model range, and increasing the level of local content. The parties also discussed prospects for joint projects in new technologies and securing raw materials essential for modern automotive manufacturing.
