Mirziyoyev Inspects Construction of Chirchik Bridge and New Metro Line in New Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev continued reviewing infrastructure projects in New Tashkent, visiting the construction sites of the new bridge over the Chirchik River and a metro station combined with a parking facility.
These projects are intended to strengthen transportation links between the capital and the developing city, ensure efficient traffic management, and create more convenient conditions for residents’ mobility.
The new bridge, which will connect Tashkent with New Tashkent, is designed to accommodate 40,000–50,000 vehicles per day. Construction work for the first phase began at the end of this year. The project places special emphasis on environmental solutions, including landscaping of the riverbanks, creation of bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths, and installation of energy-efficient lighting. A two-lane tram line is also planned.
Simultaneously, a new 21-kilometer metro line is under development. It will link nine stations and serve up to 230,000 passengers daily. The line will integrate into the existing capital metro system, forming a unified transport circuit.
The President inspected the progress of one of the stations, which is integrated with a multi-level parking facility spanning 20,000 square meters. The design provides for separate flows for vehicles, pedestrians, and public transport, enhancing both safety and operational efficiency. Earthworks and concrete pouring are already underway, with the line’s commissioning scheduled for 2027.
Mirziyoyev emphasized the strategic importance of these infrastructure projects for shaping New Tashkent and instructed that high-quality construction standards be maintained and deadlines strictly observed.
