Mirziyoyev Discusses Development of Interparliamentary Ties with Head of Japan’s House of Councillors
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his official visit to Japan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Masakazu Sekiguchi, President of the House of Councillors of the Parliament of Japan.
During the talks, it was noted that parliaments play an important role in advancing the Uzbek–Japanese strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation. Satisfaction was expressed with the active participation of representatives of the House of Councillors in the юбилейной 150th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which took place in Tashkent in April this year.
Particular attention was given to supporting youth parliamentary initiatives. In this context, the parties discussed the organization of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as the participation of a Japanese delegation in the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians scheduled to be held in Samarkand in 2026.
The importance was emphasized of comprehensive parliamentary support for the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, primarily in expanding trade and economic, financial, investment and technological, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
