Mirziyoyev Approves Solar Power Plant Project for “Challenging” Mahallas

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved additional measures to support low-income families through the construction of small solar power plants in “challenging” mahallas, the Ministry of Justice reported.

According to the decree, small solar power stations with a capacity of 300–500 kWh will be built in remote and socially vulnerable areas of the country, providing local residents with income-generating assets. The project is financed from the Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund with an allocation of US$110 million.

The document outlines the full project cycle, including design, state expertise, selection of contractors through competitive tendering, and organization of construction and installation work. Special attention is given to the operation and management of the plants, as well as the distribution of income generated from the electricity produced.

The initiative is expected to simultaneously improve the energy infrastructure in remote mahallas and create new income sources for low-income families, promoting sustainable socio-economic development in the regions.
