Mirziyoyev Announces Incentives and Loans to Promote Electric Vehicles in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced the launch of a five-year program to stimulate the use of electric vehicles. He conveyed this in his address to the Oliy Majlis and the nation.

According to the head of state, local electric vehicles will be eligible for car loans at an interest rate of 12%, while foreign models will receive loans at 16%. Entrepreneurs establishing charging stations will be offered preferential loans at 10%, as well as the opportunity to purchase land at auctions at half the standard price.

At charging stations, any electricity costs exceeding 300 sums per kilowatt-hour will be reimbursed from the state budget. In addition, citizens providing taxi services using electric vehicles will also receive incentives.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that these measures are aimed at promoting environmentally friendly transport and reducing emissions, while contributing to the modernization of the country’s transport infrastructure.
