Mirziyoyev and Tokayev Discuss New Steps to Deepen Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 November, a closed-format meeting was held at the Kuksaroy Residence between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The leaders emphasized that President Tokayev’s state visit marks a significant milestone in the development of the Uzbek-Kazakh strategic partnership and alliance.

It was noted with satisfaction that preparations for the visit were accompanied by an active agenda, including a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, Kazakhstan Medical Days, ongoing screenings of Kazakh films, Astana Days, and other cultural events.

Trade and economic cooperation continues to show steady growth. The bilateral trade turnover has reached $4 billion since the beginning of the year, with a goal to increase it to $10 billion, including through expanded mutual supplies and import substitution. Cargo transport volumes are rising, and more than 40 weekly flights operate between cities of the two countries.

A total of 6,500 joint ventures have been established, and major cooperative projects are underway. A portfolio of new industrial cooperation initiatives valued at over $8 billion has been prepared, and the creation of a joint Investment Platform was proposed to facilitate their implementation.

The discussions also focused on further expanding cooperation in energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture and water management, ecology, digital technologies, and other sectors.

The importance of deepening interregional ties was emphasized, with an agreement reached to hold the first Council of Regional Heads of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in 2026 in Kazakhstan.
