Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov Hold Talks in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 November, a closed-door meeting was held at the Kuksaroy Residence between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

It was noted that the current state visit represents an important step in further strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations, which have developed over recent years into a truly exemplary partnership.

The leaders emphasized the steady positive dynamics of cooperation and active contacts at all levels. Regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council are held, and joint cultural events are organized. Ahead of the visit, Turkmenistan Culture Days and screenings of national films were successfully held in Urgench and Tashkent.

Special attention was given to the development of trade and economic cooperation. Last year, mutual trade exceeded 1 billion dollars, and cargo volumes, including transit through the Turkmenbashi port, continue to grow.

The parties discussed measures to further expand trade and promote cooperative projects in industry, energy, transport, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and water management.

The leaders stressed the importance of expanding interregional exchanges and agreed to hold the third Regional Forum in Khiva.

During the meeting, they also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
