Mirziyoyev, Aliyev Discuss Ties and Middle East Situation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 19, during which the two leaders discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation.

The presidents exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of the upcoming Eid Al-Fitra and Navruz holidays, wishing peace, prosperity, and continued development to the peoples of both countries.

Particular attention was given to further strengthening the Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance, including the implementation of agreements reached during the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.

The sides noted the steady positive growth in mutual trade and progress in joint projects across trade, economic, investment, transport, and cultural and humanitarian fields.

The conversation also addressed the situation in the Middle East. The leaders expressed concern over the risks of further escalation, which could have serious consequences for the region and the global economy. They emphasized the importance of resolving emerging issues исключительно through political and diplomatic means.

The call concluded with a review of schedules for upcoming bilateral and multilateral engagements.
