Mirziyoyev: 2026 will be the “Year of the Development of the Mahalla and Society as a Whole”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the nation with a New Year’s message, summing up the results of 2025 and outlining priorities for the period ahead. According to him, despite a challenging international environment, the country succeeded in achieving all key objectives: GDP surpassed 145 billion dollars for the first time, and Uzbekistan secured its place among upper-middle-income countries.

The head of state stressed that economic growth is directly reflected in the quality of life, rising household incomes, business development, and the growing confidence of young people in the future. He noted that the outgoing year brought millions of families the joy of moving into new homes, professional milestones, and children’s achievements in science, culture, and sports — all of which, as Mirziyoyev underlined, “fills us with strength and energy”.

Addressing the public, the president announced that 2026 has been declared in Uzbekistan as the “Year of the Development of the Mahalla and Society as a Whole”. In the coming months, the authorities plan to modernize the infrastructure of thousands of mahallas, giving them “the appearance of the New Uzbekistan”, while transitioning key economic sectors to a model based on technological and innovative growth. He also pledged to continue efforts to raise household incomes, support socially vulnerable groups, improve the environment, develop green energy, and ensure the rational use of water resources.

The president expressed confidence that civil society representatives, entrepreneurs, the younger generation, and activists will take part in achieving these goals. “Every compatriot will make a worthy contribution to this noble work,” he said.

Concluding his address, Mirziyoyev wished citizens good health, prosperity, and the fulfillment of their hopes in the new year. “May 2026 bring happiness to every family, and progress, peace, and stability to our country,” the president said, ending his message with the words: “Happy New Year, my dear friends!”
