Mirabbos Mirzaakhmedov, Honored Cultural Figure of Uzbekistan, Dies at 85
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the age of 85, Mirabbos Mirzaakhmedov, a renowned cultural figure, prominent TV host, and director, passed away.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and other officials expressed condolences over his passing. “The memory of the acclaimed master of art, a sincere and modest person, and a caring mentor to the youth, Mirabbos Mirzaakhmedov, will forever remain in our hearts,” the statement reads.
Born on September 30, 1941, in Tashkent, Mirzaakhmedov graduated from the Tashkent Theatre and Arts Institute (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan), specializing as a film and theater actor.
He began his professional career as an assistant director at Uzbekistan’s Television and Radio Company. For over 60 years, he worked as a director and chief director of the “Yoshlar” editorial office and as a senior director at the “Uzbekistan” TV channel. For more than 40 years, he was the author and host of the popular program “Otalar Suzi — Aklning Kuzi” (“A Father’s Word — The Eye of Reason”).
Under his guidance, numerous TV shows, radio programs, and feature films on social and cultural topics were produced. His notable films include Bahor Kaitmaydi (“Spring Will Not Return”), Izlayman (“I Seek”), Kalbingga Kulok Sol (“Listen to the Heart”), Bahs (“Dispute”), Uch Ildiz (“Three Roots”), and Dunyoning Ishlari (“Worldly Affairs”).
Through his program “Otalar Suzi — Aklning Kuzi,” Mirzaakhmedov raised public awareness of important social and spiritual issues, fostering love for family and homeland, respect, morality, and compassion, especially among young people.
