Ministry of Energy: Under current contract Afghanistan receives uninterrupted electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - According to media reports in Afghanistan, as a result of the undermining of power lines, power supply from Uzbekistan was cut off.

Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan declared that the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan have not received any confirming information from buyers of electricity in Afghanistan, including that power lines have been blown up. Under the current contract, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan receives uninterrupted electricity (approximately 1.5 million kW / hour per day) from Uzbekistan.

However, it should be noted that after 14:00 on 14 September 2019, there was a sharp decrease in the transfer of energy transmitted from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. This is almost 3 times less than usual.

The restoration of power lines, such as overhead towers, is carried out by each country independently.

If the power was turned off for some reason, the Uzbek ministry assumes that this could happen through the line that Afghan consumers buy electricity from the Republic of Tajikistan. If this assumption is true, the ministry does not know when and how Tajik and Afghan specialists will restore power lines.
