Ministry of Energy discusses current tender within the framework of the Scaling Solar program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The construction of Scalingsolar photovoltaic plants was discussed during negotiations at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The IFC delegation at the meeting held on 30 September was headed by Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Finance Corporation Wibke Schlemer.
During the negotiations, in particular, they discussed current tender within the framework of the Scaling Solar program for the construction of photovoltaic power plants (solar) based on public-private partnerships (PPPs).
At the same time, other promising projects in the field of electric power, envisaged for implementation on the basis of PPP, were discussed.
In May 2019, the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the use of renewable energy sources” and “On public-private partnership” were adopted. Thus, a legal framework was created to accelerate the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources (RES).
The adoption of these laws enables the Ministry of Energy to plan and implement a set of measures aimed at implementing investment projects in the field of renewable energy based on the principles of public-private partnership (PPP).
The Law “On the Use of Renewable Energy Sources” provides a number of benefits and preferences to renewable energy producers and renewable energy producers, as well as individuals using renewable energy sources in residential premises.
The Ministry of Energy also developed a Concept for the Development of Renewable Energy Sources in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2023.
The long-term target parameters for the development of renewable energy are also provided for by the Concept of fuel and energy support of the country for 2020-2030, which is being developed with the technical assistance of international financial institutions (World Bank, Asian Development Bank).
Together with the international consultant - MottMacDonald (Great Britain), a master plan for the long-term development of the electric power sector of Uzbekistan, including in terms of RES, is being developed.
