Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An emergency occurred yesterday at approximately 21:30 on Islam Karimov Street in Karshi, Kashkadarya region. The part of the building collapsed.
Almost immediately, rescue teams, servicemen, and representatives of the region’s internal affairs bodies arrived at the scene. Emergency search engines, fire fighting crews, ambulances and much more were involved.
“Arriving experts cordoned off the perimeter,” said Sohib Vayitov, a representative of the regional emergency department. “People were searched until the early hours of the morning.” They managed to save four citizens, they practically did not suffer - escaped with minor injuries. Today at about 05.20 a.m. a man’s corpse was found. As it turned out, a 37-year-old man came to our region to work from the Baysun district of Surkhandarya region.
Rescue operations have been completed, but the area is still cordoned off because there is a danger of collapse of the remaining building.
“We have been standing in cordon since last night,” says Sherzod Niyazov, inspector of the city department of the emergency department. - Almost every minute you have to turn around the townspeople, explaining that the passage through the territory is life-threatening. There are many people, because next to this 5-storey building under construction is a street leading to the clothing market.
Currently, construction inspectors are working at the site of the emergency. As for the building under construction, it refers to the Nasaf Travel Hotel. Construction began in February last year. It was planned that in September 2021 the building will be commissioned. The current hotel building is temporarily closed.
The prosecutor’s office of the city of Karshi is conducting an investigation.
