Ministers of transport of Turkic Council member countries hold a meeting in video conference format

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a meeting was held in the form of a videoconference of transport ministers of member countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS, Turkic Council), as well as Hungary, Dunyo reported.

The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev, the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzoda, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Adil Karaismailoglu, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, the Minister of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan Janat Beishenov, the Minister of State for Transport policy of the Hungarian Ministry of Innovation and Technology Laszlo Mosochi, as well as the Secretary General of the CCTS Baghdad Amreev took part in it.

During the extraordinary summit of the heads of state of the Turkic Council member states on 10 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the need to provide practical assistance to the mutual transport communication, which is carried out in order to continuously provide the fraternal peoples with the necessary products in the extremely difficult situation arising from the pandemic.

To achieve these goals, the head of our state proposed creating a working group of transport ministers of the member countries of the association.

In a short time, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Turkic Council, the issue of organizing this videoconference was worked out.

The parties exchanged views on ensuring the continuous mutual supply of food, fruit and vegetable essentials, medicines and medical supplies, the organization of continuous functioning of the supply chain along the Trans-Caspian corridor during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the negotiations, the current practice of mutual communication by all means of transport, ways to solve problems in the field of cargo transportation, associated with the restrictive measures adopted by countries to counter the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, were discussed.

The parties heard opinions on the implementation of the proposals put forward at an extraordinary summit of the heads of state of the Turkic Council on the organization of coordinated transport links, transit and cross-border transportation.

The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev noted the advisability of reorienting freight transportation to rail in a pandemic. He put forward the idea of creating a mechanism to provide comprehensive assistance in the prompt resolution of issues related to the transportation of goods and the exchange of preliminary information on their transportation.

“It is necessary to maximize the joint use of the multimodal transport corridor “Central Asia - Caucasus - Europe,” he said. - The participation of the Turkish side is also important in this.

The ministers discussed additional practical measures to improve the efficiency of the "green corridors" for the transit of food, medical products and other essential goods.

In this regard, issues such as the organization of a system of remote advance notice on the transportation of essential goods, simplification of visa procedures for carriers, the provision of discounts on the prices of Ro-Ro lines across the Caspian Sea, the provision of necessary additional (bilateral / transit) permits and cancellation fees were considered for transit passes on the basis of reciprocity, minimization of road and other charges, exemption from weight and size control during transportation of essential goods.

An exchange of information on emerging issues in the field of practical assistance was provided to facilitate the passage of freight vehicles across borders / checkpoints for the delivery of humanitarian goods, basic consumer goods, medicines and medical equipment.

The participants discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the Summit of the Heads of States of the CCTS held on 15 October 2019 in Baku, as well as the activities of the Secretariat of the Turkic Council on the effective coordination of transport and logistics.

At the end of the event, ideas were developed that will determine future cooperation between the parties in the post-pandemic world.

This video conference is the second important event held on the basis of initiatives put forward by the head of our state during an extraordinary summit of the heads of state of the Turkic Council. Earlier, a similar online meeting of ministers of health took place, at which issues of cooperation and coordination during the pandemic were discussed.
