Ministers of Transport Discuss Acceleration of China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A trilateral meeting on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project was held, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Transport and Communications reported.
The meeting was attended by the head of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Transport Absattar Syrgabayev, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov, and representatives of the Chinese side.
The participants discussed the progress of the project and confirmed its transition to the practical implementation phase. The focus was on current works, timelines, and the readiness of all parties to accelerate construction.
Absattar Syrgabayev emphasized that the project must be completed within the established deadlines and stated Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to provide support at every stage.
According to the ministry, tunneling, construction of temporary infrastructure, and organizational work are currently underway.
The railway project is considered a key element of the region’s transport system: it will reduce distances for freight transportation, enhance transit potential, create new jobs, and strengthen economic cooperation among the three countries.
